Faith was 8 years old when her family got their first horses. Like many horse-crazy kids, she spent every chance she could in the saddle. Most of her early experiences revolved around trail riding and participating in a local riding club with her family.
Through the club, her family met Marvin, an older horseman whose well-trained mare made a lasting impression. “His horse, Mandy, was just phenomenal,” Faith says. “We asked him how he got her trained so well, and he told us about Downunder Horsemanship.”
Curious to learn more, Faith and her family attended a Walkabout Tour in Tulsa, Oklahoma, when she was 10. From that moment on, she was hooked. Watching Clinton work with horses and explain the Method opened her eyes to what was possible to accomplish with a horse through proper training and horsemanship.
“We left the tour inspired to train our horses and did the best that we could with the resources we had available to us,” Faith says. “We couldn’t afford to buy the training kits at the time, but we watched all of Clinton’s TV shows and bought the halters, lead ropes, sticks and strings.”
Years later, while attending college, Faith purchased her first horse of her own – a good-minded filly named Skylar. Although she had never started a young horse before, Skylar’s easygoing disposition helped Faith gain confidence as a trainer.
“Skylar was gentle enough that I stayed out of trouble,” Faith says. “I rode her for a couple of months, and then we hit a wall. I ran out of knowledge and didn’t know what to do.”
That challenge led her to Method Ambassador Jim Anderson. After Faith explained her situation with Skylar, Jim invited her to attend one of his three-day Fundamentals Clinics. The experience proved to be a turning point.
“Before the clinic, Skylar had been pushy and really forward and just didn’t want to do what she was told,” Faith says. “In three days, she became absolutely respectful and willing to do anything.”
Inspired by the results, Faith joined the No Worries Club and began studying the Fundamentals Series in depth. “I thought I knew the Method, but I realized I only knew part of it from watching Clinton’s TV shows,” she says. “Once I studied the training kits, I realized how much more in-depth the Method is.”
With Jim’s guidance, Faith continued developing her skills, training additional horses and attending as many clinics as possible. Before long, she was shadowing Jim at events and helping other horse owners along their training journeys. Recognizing her passion for both horses and people, Jim encouraged her to take the next step and enroll in the Academy.
Faith excelled in the program and earned her place as a Method Ambassador. Today, she enjoys helping horsemen build better partnerships with their horses, overcome training challenges and achieve their goals. She believes that horsemanship is a lifelong journey and approaches every day with a simple philosophy: “If you’re not learning, you’re not living.”
